Welcome to Mrs. Aflague's class

My summer

Welcome to Middle School! I cannot wait to share with you my love for reading and writing. I have been teaching middle school language arts for 12 years. All I ask from you each day is that you bring in a desire to learn new things. My summer has been eventful as I just returned from a nine-day vacation with family in Las Vegas, Nevada. The family reunion turned out to be a great success as we were all able to catch up with each other's lives and relive hilarious memories. It was truly fantastic.
Hope your summer was restful and enjoyable. As the school year begins, new habits will slowly begin to settle in like getting 8 hours of sleep, doing homework, and eating a good breakfast. Although these seem like simple tasks, it's really "planning" ahead that helps you be successful throughout the day. School is exciting, but it can be daunting too if we hold on to poor habits. I'll see you again soon!

Back to School

Get those alarm clocks set, sleeping patterns followed, desk cleared, and let's get to school. With summer ending and the school year beginning, new habits begin to develop. Along with these new habits, Mrs. Aflague would like to stress just a few that would make your day in school the best possible.
1. Get a good nights rest. Sleep at least 8-10 hours.
2. Eat a good breakfast and pack a few healthy snacks.
3. Get your homework done ahead of time. Some students can work on theirhomework right when they get home. Others will put it off and forget about it. Set a time aside each night for reading and homework completion.
4. Plan ahead (clothes, homework, back pack, logs, snacks, PE clothes, pencils and paper, etc.) for smooth day.
Follow these simple steps, and you'll start the year off successfully!
